Playwrights Local was founded three years ago to produce new scripts by locally based playwrights. Since then it’s produced numerous shows at its Waterloo space as well as in collaboration with other local theater groups, and hosted workshops, readings and discussions.
Now it will hold its first ever “Summer Rally” fundraising event, taking place at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. The afternoon features appetizer, a cash bar, a silent auction, and entertainment — including a preview of a new play by Less Hunter, Down by Contact, which it’s producing with Dobama Theatre opening August 17, live music by Trepanning Trio, and presentations about the group’s work by playwrights Faye Sholiton and Luke Brett.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
