The Building Bridges Summit in Slavic Village art space the Magalen is an opportunity to meet and talk to representatives from early three dozen (mostly) left-leaning organizations, either locally based or with local branches.
Some, such as the gun safety group Moms Demand Action, Clevelanders for Public Transit, the LGBT Cleveland Community Center or the B. Riley Sober House (a sober-living facility for LGBTQ people), are focused on particular issues rather than political ideologies. Others, including the Cleveland Democratic Socialists of America, the Ohio Green Party and the Workers World Party Cleveland are all about ideology.
But whether you support racial justice, animal rights, justice system reform, helping immigrants or legalizing marijuana, you’ll probably find a group here to hook up with. There’ll also be panel discussions and a keynote speech by 1960s black power activist Don Freeman. The event is free.
