Panel at SPACES Gallery Looks at How to Keep Youth Safe from Violence

Thu 7/19 @ 6:30-8:30PM

SPACES’ Gallery’s new show, A Color Removed, explores the issue of safety in the city — who has it and who doesn’t. Its creation featured extensive public programming and input, and there’s more during its three-month run.

This week in “My Neighbor’s Keeper: Who Is Responsible for my Safety?” the focus is on youth and violence. Educator Melissa Marini Švigelj-Smith, retired teacher an state school board member Meryl Johnson, Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Denise Nancy Rini, Rini magistrate Je’Nine Nickerson, and poet/journalist/educator/founder of Twelve Literary Arts Daniel Gray-Kontar will look at how young people are disproportionately affected by gun violence and what can be done to change the scenario.

It’s free and open to all.
