In the U.S. today, women are under siege on every front, with the advances gained in the last half century threatened with being rolled back. The U.S. just broke into the top 10 list of most dangerous countries for women in a survey of 500 experts by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. It’s the only developed nation to rank, just under countries such Yemen, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Pakistan.
And things stand to get worse with access to reproductive health care, including abortion and contraception disappearing, and the looming threat of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which would drive poverty and inequality among women to new heights.
With so much under attack, anyone fighting for reproductive rights — staffers, escorts, volunteers and just plain supporters of women’s agencyand equality — needs fellowship and a chance to blow off steam and recharge. That’s what the Repro Health Happy Hour at Prosperity Society Club in Tremont is about. Come mingle with like-minded folks, order a drink or some food from Prosperity’s diverse menu, and make plans for the next battle. All who support women are welcome.
