There’ll be some major musical firepower onstage at Blossom Music Center tonight, when the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Jahja Ling, is joined by the Kent/Blossom Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Vinay Parameswaran, and the Blossom Festival Chorus.
Things get rolling at the earlier-than-usual start time of 7pm when the Kent/Blossom Chamber Orchestra warms up with Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 (“Classical”) and Manuel de Falla’s Suite No. 1 from The Three-Cornered Hat. At 8pm, the two orchestras will perform together with Hector Berlioz’s Overture to Benvenuto Cellini and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music.
Finally at 9pm, the Cleveland Orchestra wraps things up with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 (“Titan”).
