Bring Your Picnic to Best Enjoy Opera in the Italian Garden

Sun 7/29 @ 6-7:30PM

The annual Opera in the Italian Garden has grown into a major event that attracted more than 3,000 people last year.

The free concert features a lineup of vocalists performing popular arias, duets and ensemble pieces from well-known Italian operas as Tosca and La Boheme, as well as such Italian popular favorites as “Mama.” Between the familiar music (expect to hear “Nessum Dorma,” of course) and the elegant garden atmosphere, it’s a concert that can be enjoyed even by those who think they don’t like opera. And once gain, the singers will be joined by dancers from the Cleveland Ballet, adding another element to this summer evening.

Wood-fired pizzas and drinks will be available for purchase but for many attendees packing a lavish picnic to spread out is part of the fun. Some chairs are provided but it’s a good idea to bring your own, or bring a blanket. You can also picnic and listen on the lower level, where there will be speakers, as the upper level fills up fast.
