The Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival marks its 15th year in 2018. Yes, it was 15 years ago that an annual community home-days type affair took on new meaning by being associated with local employer ShurTech and their “Duck” brand of all-purpose home-repair tape.
Now, in addition to the carnival rides and midways, a car cruise-ins, beer tents and vendors, visitors to Avon’s Veterans Memorial Park will see everything artistic, unexpected and fun that can be done with duct tape. Displays include duct-tape artwork, a duct-tape fashion show and decorative accessories made with duct tape. The duct tape parade happens Saturday at 10am.
The family movie Ferdinand screens in drive-in fashion Thursday at 9:30pm. Live entertainment ranges from the acoustic stylings of Ray Flangagan to Nashville’s Martin Family Circus and the modern/classic cover band Bad Juju (possibly covered in duct tape; so much else will be).
Maybe someday someone will even use the stuff to patch a duct, even. Admission is free.
