Father’s Day is often associated with grills. Well, come to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron for grills like you’ve never seen before — radiator grills, on some of the rarest and most legendary classic autos that vintage dads ever drove.
It happens at the annual Classic, Antique & Collector Car Show, now a classic itself, marking 61 years at the Stan Hywet complex. The grounds, a lovingly preserved 1915 manor-house and estate built by Goodyear rubber magnate F.A. Seiberling, will be open for self-guided tours, but the main attraction are the contraptions for which Goodyear provided so many tires. There will be some 400 classic, antique and collector cars manufactured from 1915 to 1993, with a special emphasis in this centennial year on the British models that came out during the First World War.
For sons and daughters, Summit Racing will also have a pedal-car racetrack, and there will be live music until 1:30pm. Food will be available onsite. Note that parking for this special event will be off-site at 1820 Akron-Peninsula Road and 470 Castle Blvd., with shuttles provided.
Tickets are $14 for adults; $6 for kids.
