Sow & Grow Festival Finds Fertile Soil at Hale Farm & Village

Sat 6/9 & Sun 6/10 @ 10AM-5PM

What if the classic Miles Davis jazz composition “Sow What” was written to commemorate the Sow & Grow Festival and Plant Sale at Hale Farm & Village. There are worse fake news and urban legends online than that one.

Held at the Western Reserve Historical Society’s Hale Farm in the scenic Cuyahoga Valley, the Sow & Grow Festival goes forward into the past, with an evocative weekend educational/interactive display of 19th-century farm techniques. You can’t get these echoes of another world just from those chintzy VR glasses: beekeeping, oxen-driving, sheep-shearing, brewing your own ale from homegrown garden hops — even how to stuff a straw mattress.

This year marks the debut of a concurrent plant sale, featuring herbs and heirloom annuals and perennials. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, or free for Western Reserve Historical Society members.
