Sun 6/10 @ 8PM
Joe Purdy is a hard-working, hard-touring singer/songwriter/guitarist who’s put out 15 albums in as many years. Yet, although the Arkansas native, who has moved around considerably, has seen many of his songs appear on TV and movie soundtracks and has toured with Steve Earle, his name is little known outside a circle of aficionados.
People who like traditional American folk music in the style of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Phil Ochs will appreciate his observant music with a common — as in universal — touch. He also made his acting debut in this year’s film American Folk, often described as a folk music version of the 2007 Irish film Once.
He’ll be playing at Peninsula’s G.A.R. with Cleveland’s similarly minded Roger Hoover opening. Tickets are $19.00 in advance, $22 day of show.
