Lakewood’s Battle of Birdtown Brings the Community Together

Sat 6/16 @ 10AM-3PM

“Birdtown” isn’t a Charlie Parker compilation but an old-school working-class neighborhood on the Lakewood-Cleveland DMZ. For the fourth year now the community nonprofit LakewoodAlive will host the annual Birdtown Picnic — and with it the second annual “Battle of Birdtown” softball faceoff, in Madison Park.

It takes place at George Usher field, with a morning exhibition match between the ersatz Team Lark vs. Team Robin, with players including various community leaders and business owners.

The party continues afterwards with a noontime community picnic in the park, with complimentary refreshments and community-resource vendors set up for dispensing advice. Admission is free.
