We’re frankly worried about what will happen when the Tony-winning Broadway sensation Hamilton visits Playhouse Square. What about when Clevelanders discover it is not a musical about Indians baseball announcer Tom Hamilton, but rather some founding father guy in the old days? We’re imagining demands for refunds could even escalate into riots, since Maurice the Sax Man isn’t around any longer to soothe the angry mobs with his sweet harmonies.
Get a proper debriefing on Hamilton via a free presentation at the Beachwood Branch of the Cuyahoga Country Public Library. Daniel Goldmark, director of the Center for Popular Music Studies at Case Western Reserve University, will discuss the smash hit and how it fits into the evolution of Broadway spectaculars over the last 40 years.
