Thu 5/17-Sat 6-9 @ 7:30PM
Each year, Cleveland Public Theatre gives audiences the chance to take the temperature of the local small dance ensembles scene with its DanceWorks series.
For five weekends, Thursday-Saturday, the stage is given over to one or two local ensembles, both lesser-known ones and well-established ones stretching their wings with new work.
The series kicks off with one of the latter when Verb Ballets performs Thu 5/17-Sat 5/19 at the Gordon Square Theatre. They’ll be premiering new works by Verb associate director Richard Dickinson, company dancers Kate Webb, Michael Escovedo and Lieneke Matt, and trainee Jocelyn Magnons.
Weekend two features MorrisonDance; Inlet DanceTheatre has weekend three; Oberlin Dance Project and Marquez Dance project share week four; and Double-Edge Dance closes it out with weekend number five.
Tickets are $12-$30.
