Artists Archives of the Western Reserve Presents the Work of Two Artists With “Secrets”

Judy Takács, “Guardian Angel of the Good Death”

Thu 5/24 @ 5:30PM

Secrets, which opens at Artists Archives of the Western Reserve this week, features two artists, Judy Takács, and Marilyn Szalay — the former who is very active in showing her work today and the latter who passed away in 2012.

The title references the various types of secrets hidden in virtually all works of arts, including the layers of meanings, symbols and references intended for the viewer to ferret out and those known only to the artist herself. Takács blogs about her work at chickswithballsjudytakacs.blogspot.com — but does she tell you everything?

This colorful show of large-scale figurative work is full of symbolism to study and mull over. It’s the first show at AAWR for the two artists. It opens Thu 5/25 with a reception form 5:30-8pm and will be on view through Sat 7/14.
