Whether you are a “Sneakerhead” as crazy about sneakers as Jerry Seinfeld purportedly is or was, or just sneaker-curious, you’ll be in sneaker heaven because not one, but two, all-things-sneakers roll into to C-Town over the next week. (You’ll have to wait until next week for details on Sneaker Con, but CoolCleveland.com will keep you in the loop, so check back!)
First, find out why sneakers have become an American fetish, and iconic art form at eCLEctic: Soles on View at MOCA Cleveland.
Check out “The Art of The Hunt” with moderator Saxx Booker who dishes on sneaker culture from the perspective of the collector. Other panelists include Kelton Crenshaw, an attorney who facilitates licensing and influencer branding with brands like Puma, New Era, Dusse and Tackma and DJ K-Nyce,
Archie Green, MOCA’s Community Engagement and Programs Manager, known for his music and mental health advocacy, moderates “The Art of Shoe-Making,” with shoe painter Van Monroe who designed custom shoes for President Obama and one of whose designs is part of the Smithsonian’s current collection and Jacob Ferratto of JBF Customs who recreates iconic sneakers in luxury materials. Canadian panelist Dion Walcott takes his place on the court with MARKT’D, a student sneaker design competition.
General admission costs $20; $15 for MOCA Members.
