No Strings Attached – But Spokes are, as Dancing Wheels Does Pinocchio.

Dancing Wheels is Mary Verdi Fletcher’s groundbreaking, Cleveland-based wheelchair ballet troupe. For their spring offering they are reworking the oft-told story of Pinocchio.

If things look slightly famiiar in this reworking of the Carlo Collodi storybook the dancers are taking cues from the Disney-animated visualizations of Geppetto, Figaro and Pinocchio. But the wheelchair dance puts its own “spin” on the material.

Performances at the Breen Center for the Performing Arts are open to the entire community on Sunday, followed by a party. There are two weekday morning “student matinees,” and admission should be purchased in advance. There are also discounts for group purchases of five or more.
