Join Vanity Crash and Other Cleveland Musicians for an Evening of Bowieoke at the BOP STOP

Sat 5/5 @ 8-11PM

How much David Bowie is too much? For many fans, whose hunger for his groundbreaking music has only grown since his death more in January 2016, there’s no such amount.

Those fans will be in heaven at Bowieoke, a special evening of full-immersion Bowie taking place at the Bop Stop.

Cleveland glam rockers Vanity Crash, who recently performed to enthusiastic crowds at the AXPONA audio conference in Chicago, are the hosts for the event, which they previously did at Musica in Akron — but never before in Cleveland. It features wall-to-wall Bowie tunes, performed by six area bands and musicians, including Sarah Arafat, 45 Spider, Frigid Touch, Emily Keener, Kiss Me Deadly, Vanity Crash and Nick Wilkinson, as well as members of the audience.

“Last year in Akron, the club was packed with people dancing and singing along to songs such as ‘All The Young Dudes’ and ‘Suffragette City,’” says Vanity Crash leader Dennis Van Crash. “I wanted to share this with our fans in Cleveland. We’ve got an excellent line up of acts that jumped at the chance to give their spin on some Bowie tunes. One of the things I was shooting for was to include the amazing female rockers that Cleveland has, and I’m happy that all acts but one is either female fronted or has a female in the band.”

On top of all that, CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready will be doing a multimedia presentation on Bowie’s legendary Ziggy Stardust era, which introduced him to audiences in the U.S. So get those velvet pants, satin jackets and platform boots out and rock as much glitter as you want, whether you plan to sing or just sit back and take it all in.

Admission is $15; the show is all ages.
