Family Day Takes Flight at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum

Sat 5/5 @ 10AM-2PM

It is lucky 13 for the International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM) in Burke Lakefront Airport. The local institution holds its 13th annual Family Day, a Saturday of games, crafts, fun and education throughout the terminal.

The museum started as an archive near Dayton, honoring the achievements of female pilots (civilian and military), astronauts and cosmonauts. After years in cramped building in Centerville, the collection of suits, memorabilia, control panels and even full-sized planes moved to Burke in 1998.

This year’s Family Day specials include local sports mascots, on-the-tarmac Cleveland police helicopter and fire department displays (weather permitting), raffles and NASA representatives (tied to the upcoming celebrations of NASA-Glenn’s 60th anniversary).

And, of course, the regular IWASM exhibits and gift shop will be open for perusal. Admission is free.
