Come Be Haiku’d to Death at Ensemble Theatre in Cleveland Heights

Sat 4/21 @ 7PM

Heights Arts’ Haiku Death Match returns with its incongruous juxtaposition of this spare, reflective verse form and FRANTIC HIGH-ENERGY COMPETITION!

In this event four pairs of poets face off, reading their Haiku on five subjects — personal relationships, politics, animals in our life, the daily grind and all things Cleveland. The audience votes on the winner. The four poets with the highest scores move on to the next round where they read classic nature-oriented Haiku. The two highest scores in that round move to the finals where the audience picks the 2018 Haiku Death Match Master.

Contestants this year include Michael Ceraolo, Lorraine Cipriano, Christine Donofrio, Cordelia Eddy, Azriel Johnson, defending champion Ray McNiece, Pat Robertell-Hudson and Bill Schubert. Musician/poet Vince Robinson emcees the event.

It takes place at Ensemble Theatre on the Coventry PEACE campus, its first time there. Tickets are $15, $10 for Heights Arts members.
