James McMurtry

The Kent Stage celebrates its 16th year with an anniversary weekend showcasing Texas-born singers-songwriters James McMurtry & John Moreland with their Americana-style swagger.

McMurtry is a Grammy nominee whose first album Too Long in the Wasteland, features the hit “Where’d You Hide the Body,” produced by Canton, Ohio’s own Don Dixon.

Along with McMurtry’s music with a political message, Moreland makes his entrance with smooth vocals and acoustic guitar that have evolved to the point he just couldn’t go it alone anymore. So his seventh album, Big Bad Luv, released last year, includes tracks with a full band.

Moreland performed on Late Night with Stephen Colbert just two years ago, and three of his songs were featured on the Sons of Anarchy TV show.

Admission costs $35.
