Third Friday @ 78th Street Studios Offers Art Adventures on All Four Floors

Work by Gloria Plevin

Fri 3/16 @ 5-9PM

This Third Friday at 78th Street Studios, be sure to stop in at HEDGE Gallery for the opening of Don’t Be Still, a powerful reflection on the challenges women face, created by filmmaker Robert Banks and painter John Carlson. Read more about that here.

Then, travel the building from the ground floor to the top floor to see the many artist studios and galleries that pack the building. Downstairs at ARTneo, check out the elegiac work in Gloria Plevin: A Life in Art, featuring paintings by the 84-year-old artist that capture the beauty of small, ordinary moments, people and places.

At the very top of the building at the PopEye Gallery in the Survival Kit, Gods and Fighting Men features the work of Kaetlyn McCafferty, a couple of generation younger, who graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art just six years ago with a major in drawing and a minor in photography. Her figurative illustrations draw on the culture, myth and folklore of her background in a family of Irish and Prussian immigrants “to reflect on personal and social anxieties. Ultimately, they point to the absurdity in attempting to establish stable meaning and order in a constantly shifting world. Afterward stay for some music presented by Survival Kit co-founder Brian Straw.
