Everyone’s Polish on Dyngus Day in Gordon Square, Tremont & Ohio City

Mon 4/2 @ 9AM-9PM

Cleveland Dyngus Day started in 2011, the brainchild of Justin Gorski aka DJ Kishka, as an extension of his love for polka and eastern European ethnic culture. It springboarded off a Polish tradition of celebrating the day following Easter and the end of Lent with some serious partying.

Dyngus Day started small in the Gordon Square neighborhood, and has grown each year until last year it attracted around 30,000 people who partied from early afternoon until the wee hours, many taking seriously the slogan seen on a T-shirt, “It’s good to be drunk and Polish.” And while Gordon Square is still “the heart of it all,” Dyngus Day now sprawls across the near west side into Ohio City and Tremont, where various venues also host Dyngus Day activities.

The opening ceremony is at 10am at Kishka’s Beer Heaven Tent in Gordon Square. Come early if you’re bringing your family or don’t like to drink heavily. Be sure to check out the Miss Dyngus Day pageant on the same stage at 4:30, followed by the parade at 6. Bands, heavy on polka, will be playing throughout the afternoon and evening.

It’s all free; for a full schedule, go here.
