The Starwood Festival is a weeklong outdoor event, taking place in southern Ohio (this year July 10-16), an eagerly anticipated gathering devoted to new age and alternative spiritualities. It’s filled with music, dancing, workshops, classes, rituals, drum circles, and of course, its famous culminating monster bonfire.
To raise money to stage the event, as well as bring together the like-minded for a little midwinter spirit boost, the Cleveland-based organizers host Winterstar, taking place at the Beachland Ballroom.
The free daytime event, taking place from noon-6pm, features workshops and sessions on wicca, the Buckland Witchcraft Museum and tribal belly dance, as well as story time with Uncle Gnormie. If you’re not sure Starwood’s your thing, this is a chance to get a taste of it.
At 6:30pm, the doors open for the evening show, which features music performers, such as guitarist Brian Henke and didgeridoo player Stephen Kent, merchants, readers and a drum jam. Admission is $10.
