Lake Erie Ink Workshop Guides Kids in Lyric Writing

Lake Erie Ink, the Cleveland Heights-based writing program for kids and teens, takes its act off site for a fun morning of music-based writing at nearby Heights Music Shop.

There musician/writer Afi Scruggs will lead a workshop titled “The Lyrical Story: Finding Rhythm in Words.” While her main instrument is bass, Afi also plays piano/keyboards, mandolin, autoharp and guitar. She’s performed jazz, rock, funk, Latin and church music. She’s also a journalist whose resume includes a stint as a columnist for the Plain Dealer.

At her workshop she’ll lead youth of all ages to explore the basics of songwriter, guiding them as they write their own ballad lyrics. Cost is $5 at the door. Participants can register at lakeerieink.org/register or call 216-320-4757.
