Lake Erie Folk Fest Offers Listening and Participation for All Ages

The Lake Erie Folk Fest at Shore Cultural Center, now in its 3rd year, is a low-key way to enjoy and participate in music, and engage with musicians of different skill levels, ages and musical tastes.

Kicking off at 1pm, it features a series of workshops, mini-concerts by Tom Evanchuck, Sanders & Hearn and Ballinloch, jam sessions, music for Cajun and square dancing, a drum workshop with Tam Tam Magic, an open mic, and a special set of workshops for kids.

Come back in the evening at 7:30pm for a concert featuring the Canadian fusion trio Ten Strings and a Goat Skin, with teenage Lorain County singer/songwriter/ guitarist Emily Keener, newgrass duo Aaron Jonah Lewis & Lindsay McCaw of the Corn Potato String Band, West African dance and drumming group Tam Tam Magic, and Slovenian men’s choris Fantje na vasi.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from noon-7:30pm.
