Bring the Heat

No matter how cold it gets around here in winter, we’ve all learned that spring is right around the bend.

Brazilian transplantand guitarist/vocalist/composer Luca Mundaca will incorporate jazz, bossa nova and world music at her heartwarming Valentine’s Day show at BOP STOP, “to sing songs from my heart to their hearts, bringing to them love, romance and happiness.”

Bonfoey Gallery celebrates a sizzling 125 years in business, Afi Scruggs stimulates young fevered minds in a workshop on lyric writing at Heights Music Shop, and Prosperity Social Club is frying up fish for Lent with all the fixings, just as their establishment has been doing for 70 years.

Scorching hot burlesque at The 9, the incandescent Roomful of Teeth at Oberlin, the fiery Africa->West Trio are in residence at BW, a blistering Contra Dance at the Fellowship Hall in Chagrin Falls, and the Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret series lights up Jilly’s in Akron. We’ve run out of euphemisms, but this week is as hot as it gets. –Thomas Mulready
