Lady J Martinez is one of the area’s most prominent drag queens and perhaps the only one with a PhD (from Case Western Reserve; she wrote her dissertation on the mainstreaming of drag in the 1990s). If you are into sci-fi, fantasy, rock & roll or nerd culture, you might want to be there.
Based on the 1981 animated film Heavy Metal, she promises to take you “beyond the Future to a Universe You’ve Never Seen Before… A Universe of Mystery. A Universe of Magic. A Universe of Sexual Fantasies. A Universe of Awesome Good. A Universe of Terrifying Evil. A Step Beyond Science Fiction.”
Her special guest will be “legendary rocker goddess” Kari Nickels, with fellow drag artistes Samantha Echo and Ginger Breadhaus also providing performances, along with Lady J herself.
