Meet the Jim Henson Character that Time Forgot at CanalWay Center in Cuyahoga Heights

Fri 12/22 @ 7PM

Bring the kids to the CanalWay Center of the Cleveland Metroparks and rediscover Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas.

This charming holiday offering was one of a handful of syndicated TV specials done by the Jim Henson Muppet troupe in the 1970s. Muppets you may never even have heard of popped up on PBS and — believe it or not — Saturday Night Live, before Henson, Frank Oz and the other Muppeteers got their big break with the original Muppet Show.

Only narrator Kermit will be familiar to most kids, here as he hosts a “Gift of the Magi”-like tale set amidst swamp critters, as Emmet Otter tries to win top prize at a Christmas-time talent contest. The tunes, ranging from jug-band to a takeoff on raucous rock, were all done by the great Paul Williams.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome (duh), but registration in advance is requested.
