Sat 12/23 @ 8PM

Must be something punk in the water on December 23. Punk Rock Festivus is happening at the Beachland, and across town at the Phantasy in Lakewood, Home for the Holidays Party: A Celebration of Cleveland Punk is taking place. It’s an annual reunion of influential local ’90s punk bands, including some that haven’t played in a decade or more.

The 4th annual iteration of the event will include a set by one of the era’s major bands the Unknown (pictured), fronted by photographer Ken Blaze who documented the ’90s underground scene at Speak in Tongues. Their 1995 album Rocket Pop inspired many other young musicians. The evening’s other highlights include a reunion of the Atomix and a set by new punk rock band Violet Ray with former Hooligans front man Billy “Hooligan” Somerville handling vocals, as well as Cypher and skitter.

There will also be a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses and the performers with money raised going to the Cleveland Food Bank.

Doors open at 7pm; music starts at 8. Admission is $5, $8 for those 18-21.
