Playwright Eric Coble Weaves a Sherlock Holmes Tale at Dobama

Fri 12/1-Sat 12/30

It seems to be the month of the local playwright, with convergence-continuum debuting a new work by Christopher Johnston, Talespinner Children’s Theatre presenting Michael Sepesy’s take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and now at Dobama, with the regional premiere of prolific, nationally produced Cleveland Heights playwright Eric Coble’s take on the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Based on graphic novels by Tony Lee and Dan Boultwood, Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars, the story involves Holmes’ disappearance and the search for him by a group of assorted street people and eccentrics aka the Baker Street Irregulars, who encounter the sorts of complications the Sherlock Holmes stories are known for. Dobama’s artistic director Nathan Motta directs the show, with Coble’s involvement in the rehearsal process.

It opens Fri 12/1 (following a couple of previews) and runs through Sat 12/30 Thursday-Sunday, with Wednesday performances December 20 and 27.

Tickets are $35-$38.
