DakhaBrakha is a Ukrainian quartet which brings a world-music fusion style to traditional Ukrainian songs and ballads. They will be appearing in all their trans-ethnic glory at the Music Box Supper Club.

While incorporating contemporary sounds and billing themselves as “punk,” do not expect a campy novelty act a la the Leningrad Cowboys (remember them?). Accordion, cello and percussion — plus tall fur hats — enhance Ukraine and Tartar ballads that can blend with rhythms and arrangements borrowed from reggae and hip-hop.

Tickets are $28 in advance or $32 at the door. The doors open at 5:30pm for those who want to partake of a special Ukrainian-flavored dinner (a $22 fixed price) at the Rusty Anchor Restaurant on the premises.
