The Shaw JCC of Akron is hosting a fundraiser called An Evening of Jazz for the J that promises to be an exciting evening out for music lovers. It features an ensemble of experiences professionals musicians: Los Angeles drummer Willie Jones III, a veteran of the Roy Hargrove Quintet; trumpet player Terell Stafford who teaches at Temple University in Philadelphia; trombone player Steve Davis, who has worked with Art Blakey’s and Chick Corea’s bands; British-born sax player Ralph Moore; pianist Eric Reed; and bassist Gerald Cannon.
Tickets are $45 for individuals and $80 for couple for each of the two sets. A $75 patron ticket lets you in an hour and a half early to mingle with the musicians and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine.
