Elyria Apple Festival Is 37 Years Old and as Fruitful as Ever

Fri 9/15-Sun 9/17

Does an apple a day really keep the doctor away? Food as medicine is an intriguing subject, but food like apples make for good eating, and a bushel of fun this weekend as Elyria celebrates all varieties of the fruit erroneously blamed for Adam and Eve’s fall. (That dubious award goes to pomegranate.)

Cider, marching bands, princess pageants, music, dancing, basketball and cornhole challenges plus a 5K run and fun walk through Ely’s Cascade Park make up most of the pie.

Much of the celebration transpires around Ely Square and downtown Elyria’s courthouse. Admission is free.
