All Roads Lead to the Romanian Festival at St. Mary’s in West Park

Fri 8/18 @ 4:30-11PM

Sat 8/19 @ 2-11PM

Sun 8/20 @ noon-10PM

We’ve heard that to visit Romania — even the most famous sites, like Vlad “Dracula” Tepes’ castle — still means miles of winding dirt roads and corkscrewing bus routes up mountainsides. Nice to know it’s not been Disneyfied and superhighwayed over. But to enjoy historic Romania here at home, there’s the annual ethnic festival of St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Lakewood.

The oldest Romanian parish in the country, St. Mary saves not only souls but the cost of a passport and plane fare to enjoy authentic Romanian food, music, dance, costumes and church tours. The Doina Dance Troupe performs several times, and Filimon Bogdan leads the Transylvania Band.

Admission is free.
