Bee & Bee Event at Akron Art Museum Garden Marks Debut of Bug Condo

Thu 4/20 @ 4-6PM

Summit Metro Parks partners with the Akron Art Museum to celebrate Earth Day by debuting downtown Akron’s first Bee & Bee at the museum’s new Bud and Susie Rogers Garden.

The genesis of the project happened during Akron’s annual New Year’s Even Furst Night when museum visitors created niches for a bug condo with found objects and rolled-up New Year’s wishes. The bug condo, inspired by the museum’s architecture and pieces in the collection by artists such as El Anatsui and La Wilson, will be installed in the garden’s Art Oasis to offer shelter for butterflies, bees and other insects that inhabit the garden.

There will be bug-themed art activities in the garden; admission is free.
