The Akron Symphony Orchestra has really become committed to collaborations and event-type concerts in which it engages the community as participants, augments shows with visuals and performs with artists in other disciplines and genres. This season alone, it’s done a mixed-media concert to celebrate the centennial of the National Park Service and shared the stage with NEOS Dance Theatre and the hip hop-inspired ArtSparks ensemble.
Now it’s going to bring circus performers, including aerialist, acrobats, jugglers and strongmen to the stage of E.J. Thomas Hall for its next pops concert Cirque de la Symphonie, while it plays a repertoire of familiar music including selections from Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone, Carmen, Hook and Swan Lake. Tickets are $20-$55.
