Poet Peter Balakian Speaks Chapter and Verse at CWRU (Unless We All Get Deported First)

Fri 3/24 @ 4:30PM

A longtime scholar at Colgate University, New Jersey-born poet Peter Balakian, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, comes to talk (and, presumably, recite) at Case Western Reserve University.

Author of seven books of collected poetry, Balakian, of Armenian-American descent, appears as part of the 2017 Cleveland Humanities Festival — in which themes of ancestry and immigration weigh heavily. He has translated other Armenian writers into English and is well-versed in speaking on matters relating to refugees, genocide and making a fresh start in another country (one perhaps not so hospitable now as it used to be).

Balakian’s appearance, co-sponsored by the Armenian Cultural Organization, is free and open to all; registration is recommended.
