Sat 3/18 @ 7PM
There’s not a lot of classical music written for the didgeridoo, a wind instrument created by indigenous Australians. Unsurprisingly, it was 20th-century Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe (1929-2014) who composed some of what little there is, integrating it into classical composition.
The San Francisco-based Del Sol String Quartet and didgeridoo player Stephen Kent, also out of San Francisco, will combine to perform Sculthorpe’s string quartets at the Akron Art Museum, part of the Tuesday Musical Association’s FUZE programs to present music in an informal environment where guests can enjoy refreshments and interact with the performers. Tickets are $25.
Kent also performs tomorrow evening at SPACES Gallery.
