The hidden space tucked behind the City Club building on E. 8th Street hasn’t been too lucky for other restaurants, but in January 2015, A Bar and Kitchen opened to give it another try. “We’re a little hard to find,” they warn, and that’s the truth.
But if you are downtown and feel the urge for some upscale pub-style food, search for it. They serve small plates and large plates alike, along with salads and sandwiches. Most of it is food you already know and possibly love: burgers, pork chops, Reuben sandwiches, Caesar salads. There are a few offbeat things for the more adventurous.
All of it’s accompanied by a short list of cocktails and a long list of beers. Stop in for a late drink; they’re open until midnight Monday-Thursday, and 2:30 on Friday and Saturday with a late-night menu of sandwiches and bites.
