In March 2015, Tommy Karakostas, owner of the casual Greek Village Grilles in Lakewood, Broadview Heights and Medina, opened Santorini Greek Taverna in the spot on West 9th vacated by BRGR9. Thechic, sophisticated bistro lasted almost two years.
Now it’s become Santorini Sunrise, with plans to offer Greek style dishes from Friday through Sunday, late-night gyros and breakfast items like bacon and eggs, omelets, wraps and skillets. Alcoholic beverages will be served until 2:30 a.m. then again first thing in the morning with a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar.
He plans to make it the kind of place neighborhood residents can stop by with friends for a bite and conversation. It’ll be open 24 hours on weekends, so make that a late-night conversation.
