While many once-alien cuisines now have multiple outposts in the region, Express Taytu remains the only place to get Ethiopian food in northeast Ohio. The décor is faintly exotic, as is the food, which has enough overtones of cuisines we’ve become familiar with, such as Indian and middle-eastern, so that a diner won’t be completely at sea.
While you can get beef and chicken dishes, including raw beef items listed under “if you dare,” vegetables are basis of many of the menu items and vegetarian choices abound. It’s the array of spices, both strange and familiar, that make the stew-like dishes so intriguing. You can cap your meal with the “Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony,” where roasted beans arrive at your table to be served from a clay pot, accompanied by burning incense.
