After establishing her successful Flying Fig across from the West Side Market, chef Karen Small branched out to start a small gourmet market next door to her restaurant in 2010. Like her 15-year-old restaurant, the market focuses on locally grown or made artisanal foods, including prepared meal choices, salads, sandwiches, cheeses, pastas, jams, pickles, breads, wines, and craft beers. This isn’t a stock-your-pantry kind of place, but more the kind of market you go to pick up something for a special dinner — or when you just want to treat yourself.
