Lose Your Marbles Brings Together Four Top NE Ohio Dance Ensembles at the Akron Civic Theatre

Fri 3/1 @ 8PM

Two years ago, one of northeast Ohio’s youngest and most adventurous dance ensembles, Neos Dance Theatre, mounted the first Lose Your Marbles fringe festival, an ambitious undertaking with a wide range that proved a little overwhelming for the ambitious group which has home bases at the University of Akron and Oberlin’s New Union Center for the Arts.

So they skipped last year and came back this year with a one evening show titled Lose Your Marbles: A Dance-Centric Fringe Festival taking place a the Akron Civic Theatre, and featuring Neos Dance, along with three well-established northeast Ohio contemporary dance companies: Groundworks Dance Theatre and Inlet Dance Theatre, both about 20 years old, and Verb Ballets, which was founded in 1987. It’s an opportunity to check out a quartet of the area’s most productive presenters of dance.

“With our combined 77 years as dance companies, all four of us love the idea of joining forces to showcase the best of dance in our region,” Neos co-founder/artistic director Bobby Wesner says in the event press release. “The performance will feature 30 dancers and works by four choreographers, including David Shimotakahara for GroundWorks, Bill Wade for Inlet, Joseph Morrissey for Neos and Adam Houghland for Verb.”

Reserved tickets are $23, general admission is $18, students with ID are $5.
