Learn about Small Press Publishing at Mac’s Backs Book Fair

Sat 10/5 @ 7PM

Best sellers are fine as far as they go. But if you want to read something unusual, creative or off-the-wall, sometimes a small press is the vast place to look.

Mac’s Backs, the independent bookstore on Coventry Road, carries both the best sellers and obscurities, new and used (If you can’t find something you want to read here, you aren’t trying!). It will help hook readers up with those off-the-beaten path publications when it hosts a publishing panel and small press book fair.

Speakers include Ann Kjellberg, who served on the editorial staff of The New York Review of Books for nearly three decades and is the founding editor of Book Post, which features high-quality book reviews; Hillary Plum from Cleveland State University’s Poetry Center which has published almost 200 books since 1971; punk rock-inspired publisher/filmmaker Joe Biel from Microcosm Press and the Portland Zine Symposium; Kyle Osborne from Cleveland-based Outlandish Press; and Dave Megenhardt from independent publisher of literary fiction Red Giant Press.

It’s free and open to the public.
