It’s no secret that a majority of Cool Cleveland’s readers are women. Where women go, men follow. Plus, they organize their families’ lives. At the same time, a ton of men read Cool Cleveland every day, too: online, in their email, and on their mobile.

One woman has been very busy organizing JazzFest 2014, and we have an exclusive preview interview with JazzFest director Terri Pontremoli. And another with vocalist Laura Varcho celebrating her return to the Nighttown stage on International Jazz Day. Jim Rokakis takes us from vacancy to vitality with Thriving Communities’ first EverUrban event. OneCommunity leaders clue us in on how mid- and large-sized companies in the region can tap into their superfast dark fiber backbone. WOMYN: A Night of Poetry and Sisterhood launches at Guide to Kulchur. And storytellers are making a comeback with a new series call Told.

If you’re voting early, we are publishing our endorsement offering our reasons for voting NO on Issue 7, the sin tax on sports stadiums. Even if you’re waiting till election day on Tue 5/6, we encourage you to get out and VOTE, one way or the other.

OK guys, now you’re up. –Thomas Mulready

For some folks, music is food. That is, their personal sustenance is based less on calories and more on, say, beats.

This is the mindset needed to fully comprehend the premise of the brand-new animated film Kounterclockwise in Forever-Land, which was recently completed by indie animator Jim Lujan and Cleveland-based producer, writer, performer and musician Deacon Burns.

Basically, the 56-minute sci-fi film is The Wiz meets Lord of the Rings

By now you’ve probably heard about the violence that occurred this weekend outside of The Foundry Concert Club in Lakewood.

Saturday evening, as usual, a number of concerts were taking place around town. At some point, early in the evening, two feuding, out-of-town bands (and some of their fans) allegedly made a series of very poor decisions that changed the course of the evening in a very dramatic way…
