Alternative country band Nora Jane Struthers & the Party Line have been through northeast Ohio many times in the last several years, playing virtually every venue amenable to their acoustic-flavored folk/roots music. They’ve played Happy Days Lodge in Cuyahoga Valley National Park a couple of times, headlined the Blue Sky Folk Festival in Lake County, and performed at the Beachland, the Music Box and even Nighttown.

The former schoolteacher moved to Nashville and traded teaching for a full-time music career nearly a decade ago. Since then, she has parlayed her clear, warm vocals, with echoes of both bluegrass and rock & roll, into a flourishing career, fueled by three critically acclaimed albums (the most recent is 2015’s Wake) and major festival appearances.

Last year, she married band member/multi-instrumentalist Joe Overton. Taking some time to enjoy each other’s company and play some more intimate and casual music the duo are currently out on the road together on what they call their “Homecoming Tour.” They’ll make a stop at Oberlin’s Riverdog Gallery, where Emma Rast, a 4th-year biology and environmental studies student at Oberlin College, will open.

Admission is $15, and since the show is indoors at the gallery, reservations are a must. Lorenzo’s wood-fired pizza will be available, with complimentary hot tea and snacks. As usual, you may bring your own food and drink as well.
