Panels at Maltz Museum Discuss Key Players in Cleveland Medical History

Sun 3/4 @ 2PM

Wed 3/7 @ 7PM

The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage has two more programs this week, illuminating different aspects of the story of Jews and medicine in America, to go with their current exhibit Beyond Chicken Soup on view through Sun 4/8.

On Sun 3/4 David, Kathryn and Dr. Beth Hellerstein will talk about their “family of doctors,” and how every generation since 1863 has had a doctor.   Sean Martin will moderate the discussion of the challenges and accomplishments of this family.

Then, on Wed 3/7, a panel discussion called “My Cap Is My Crown” will address the stories behind a 1960s Mt. Sinai Hospital nursing recruitment film of the same name. Former nurses and roommates Lyn Albertson-Brom and Sara Hassler-Frato will talke about the role Mt. Sinai and its nurses played in offering health care to underserved and impoverished local communities and those suffering discrimination.

Tickets to each event are $12 or $6 for Maltz members.
