Brooklyn-based jazz sax player Noah Preminger is, at 30, rapidly rising star. He released his first album Dry Bridge Road almost a decade ago, when he was just 21, and came back with another pair on Palmetto records in 2011 and 2013.

Since then, he’s been busy touring the U.S., Europe and Australia and performing or recording with such respected jazz artists as Dave Holland, Bucky Pizzarelli, Eddie Henderson and Cleveland native Joe Lovano. His new album, Meditations on Freedom, released in January, is his 5th since 2014. It features his takes on Sam Cooke’s powerful “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Bob Dylan’s “Only a Pawn in Their Game,” and original pieces “We Have a Dream,” “The 99 Percent” and “Women’s March.”

He’ll be performing with his quartet at Blu Jazz + Akron on Wed 4/19 and the BOP Stop on Thu 4/20. Tickets for each show are $20. At 6pm, prior to his Blu Jazz + show, he’ll be doing a free masterclass.
