Networking Is Dead – Grateful, That Is – at the BOP STOP

Fri 5/18 @ 7PM

There have been all sorts of specialized business networking groups since the concept of organized networking groups became a big thing a few decades ago.

The group Networking Is Dead isn’t suggesting an end to networking events. When they say “Dead,” they mean “Grateful.” The nearly two-year-old group brings together business professionals who are also Deadheads, so they can bond as they swap stories about the shows they saw and share opinions about when the band played the best version of “Dark Star.”

“Our goal is to bring like-minded people together — professionals who are fans of the Grateful Dead — to meet and share stories and make connections,” says Networking Is Dead founder Ken Vinikof. “We’ve been having a lot of fun meeting new people and we’ve already seen a number of business relationships form.”

The event, taking place at the BOP STOP, starts with an hour of networking from 7-8pm, followed by two sets from Grateful Dead tribute band Sunshine Daydream. There will also be an auction and raffle itemsto benefit a Down Syndrome support group. It’s one of the 200-member group’s two such events each year although members frequently meet to go hear local bands who have that Dead vibe.

Tickets are $20.
