Film & Discussion At West Shore UU Church Look at How Israel Is Viewed in the U.S.

Sat 5/13 @ 7PM

One of the more ludicrous statements made by Trump (Yeah, I know — it’s hard to choose) is that his callow, inexperienced son-in-law Jared Kushner is going to solve the Israeli-Palestinian situation and that it’s going to be much easier than hundreds of more experienced people believe.

In fact, few situations  are so complex and have created as much controversy, especially in the U.S., where to many people, criticizing Israel’s actions, no matter what it does, is off-limits and branded anti-Semitic. Even Israelis don’t give their own increasingly right-wing government this kind of free pass.

The documentary film The Occupation of the American Mind explores how Americans have been conditioned to excuse Israel’s actions and how a very powerful pro-Israel lobby has shaped media coverage of the situation in the Middle East.

The Cleveland Peace Action Education Fund and Jewish Voice for Peace are sponsoring a screening of the 85-minute film at the West Shore Unitarian-Universalist Church in Rocky River. It will be followed by refreshments and a discussion. It’s free and open to all.
